Actions for Outline Information
The initial challenge to drafting my outline was narrowing the focus of the review and deciding which material to actually use. For the topic of workplace musculoskeletal disorders (WMSDs) there is a gap of approximately 2 decades between research focus periods. The Occupational Safety and Health Organization (OSHA) has decided that WMSDs are to be one of their focus areas this year and in the coming years (OSHA, 2015). This has generated a great deal of study, much belonging to the regulatory side of information publication. The last period coincided with the emphasis on ergonomics in the workplace which took place in the 1990’s.
I have decided that a Literature Review would be the form to present the information for my topic of study. Naturally I went back and reviewed the information in RES500 – Research Methods for the Health Sciences. A good reference can be viewed at the website of the University of North Carolina writing center http://writingcenter.unc.edu/handouts/literature-reviews/. The American Psychological Association (APA) Publication Manual is a very good book to own for any type of writing (American Psychological Association, 2012). Purdue University has a great writing resource at https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/560/01/.
I utilized several of the resources listed for writing assignments while pursuing other academic endeavors previous to this program at Trident University International. I will continue to utilize these sites in my practice and in furthering my career.
