You are to write an executive summary of a CURRENT Economist article you select on International Economics. An executive summary is designed to be read by professionals at the executive or management level to determine whether they want to read/listen to the full original material. It is an overview, providing the main points, but not merely a list of what was in the original material. It “should be crafted to present the most complete and compelling information possible”
(Purdue Online Writing Lab http://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/726/07/).
You will prepare two elements for this assignment:
1. Written executive summary for submission
2. Three questions that you can use to start a discussion. As this question is designed to start discussion, it should not be a yes/no question. It should engage students in their opinion, or in applying economic theories, not just in relaying the content of the presentation.
Your written executive summary should:
• Be three page in length
• Be written to clearly convey the main points of the article.
• Address your target audience – executives with an interest in International Economics. Thus you should be sure to highlight how your presentation content relates to International Economics, and how the content is important / relevant to understanding how economics relates to the world.
• Show any relevant charts/graphs/images that help to illustrate your summary
REMEMBER: to include the article (make sure it is current)
