You will write 1 journal where you will be required to summarize a book you have read and make TS and TW connections.

Topic is about: Family and Relationships

• First of all you should read this story “Coming On Home Soon” by Jacqueline Woodson, then you should write a journal, which include three parts and it should be 1 page.

• The three parts of journal:

1-   Reflection:

–          Look at the world around you and then write a short reflection about Family and Relationships that the Author used it in the story. Your journal entry should focus on local (Example: UAE), national and global implications of the topic issue and demonstrate you are thinking critically about these issues.

–          Think about your family and the families you know, extended and immediate.

-What are they like?

–          What is the “typical” Emirati family?

–          How do you perceive where you fall?

–          What kinds of problems does your family (or other families you know) experience?

–          Is peer pressure a problem?

–          How do people react to divorce?

–          How are family problems resolved?

2-   Summarize:

–          Summarize the book “ please Don’t use copy paste you should write the summary by using your Own Words.

–          Read “Coming On Home Soon” story and make Text to Self and Text to World connections.

3-   Teaching:

How can you use the book “Coming On Home Soon” to teach children about family relationships? What strategy you will use to teach them about family and relationshipes?

This assignment will enable students to apply their understanding of family relationships and social development to practical problems and issues in a case study family. The first tutorial of your group will introduce you to this exercise and will provide you with some general guidelines, specific suggestions and the opportunity to discuss possible approaches to this assignment. You will be assessed on your ability to present a coherent argument, to make effective use of the relevant literature and to draw balanced conclusions. As such, this assignment provides the opportunity for students to critically evaluate current conceptualizations of families and social development against published research evidence.
