Critical evaluation of urban policy-making and spatial planning processes in particular developed or developing country contexts, identifying the particular planning system, policies and the regulatory methods employed in that particular institutional context.

**Subject of the paper: **

“ A Critical Analysis: Critically examine and compare urban planning cultures in developed and developing countries and discuss how such cultures have evolved or been adapted to the different development planning challenges being faced in those countries”

Methodology:

You should illustrate and focus your argument on one or a few countries as case studies. In your conclusions consider how and whether your argument contributes to a broader international perspective on planning theory and (better) practice.

Assessment criteria:

? Ability to critically reflect on differences of differences between planning systems in different development and cultural contexts

? Depth of understanding of the role of the regulatory framework in delivering sustainable land development in developed and developing countries
? Effective use of illustrative case studies
? Ability to frame a question that addresses the key concerns raised in the initial study and to clearly structure an argument around it.
? Ability to research and present properly referenced evidence in support of the central argument.
? High standard of written academic English, expression, grammar.
Technical presentation: effective use of maps, diagrams, tables, images and visual illustrations, layout and graphic presentation, generally, to clarify the argument; clarity of verbal and visual presentation.
