Constitutional Amendments

Constitutional Amendments

Constitutional Amendments, summarize it, and explore the issues associated with it and its benefits and/or potential problems. You will explain what that Amendment means for the people in the USA and, possibly, in the world.
Before you start writing you can look for information on the U.S. Constitution and the Bill of Rights. You can explore the ways the Amendment of your choice is applied in the U.S. and its impact on the lives of the people. See if you can find any factual, logical, or statistical evidence that you can include in your paper.
Prewriting: Begin by brainstorming, mapping, and writing down your initial ideas (Keys pp. 15-16). Try to formulate your opinion about the Amendment, then think of three or four main points to support it. Think of a logical way to organize your main points and make an informal outline.
Putting it Together: Start with a background paragraph that will prepare your reader to understand your further explanations. Formulate a strong thesis statement (consult Keys pp. 18-20). Make sure it is clear, concise, and very specific. Avoid empty sentences and overly generalized statements.
Develop your main idea in several paragraphs with clear and logical transitions between them. You may use several approaches in this essay: definition, comparison and contrast, providing an example, the analysis of cause and effect. Choose any or all of the mentioned strategies to achieve your goal: explain to your reader the Amendment and its implications for the people. Remember that each paragraph in the body should cover only one main point. This will make it easy for your readers to understand you and will make your essay sound well-organized. Do not forget that each paragraph must be logically connected to the thesis statement in the introduction.
Wrap up with a conclusion (see Keys pp. 35-36 and the handout on V-space €˜Resources€„¢ for advice on writing a good conclusion). You may remind the readers of your main argument, revisit your main points, and/or reflect on the issues you discussed, but make sure not to repeat the exact wording you already used in the introduction and the body of the paper. You should also avoid starting a completely new point in the conclusion.
Additional Notes: Your paper will be graded using the English 111 rubric as a guide. You must follow APA formatting guidelines or your essay may be returned ungraded. Essays shorter than three full pages will receive 50% grade. Be aware of the due dates listed above submit your work on time.
