Section 1: Introduction
This should be a brief set of paragraphs which define Marriage and Family.  What is unique about a sociological approach to studying marriage and the family? This section should include an explanation of the concepts of marriage, the family, the history of marriage and the family and ways in which Sociologists study marriage and the family.

Section 2: Defining Marriage and the Family
This section should systematically compare and contrast the legal/rational U.S. definitions of marriage and the family with Sociological definitions of marriage and the family. Additionally, discuss the ways in which marriage and divorce are measured by various rates. Find data pertaining to the rates of marriage and divorce using a .gov website and discuss what these rates mean and why they are important.
