Write a paper about an American military leader of the American Civil War who was influential in the execution and outcome of the war.

1. The leader will preferably hold the rank of General, however, in some instances individuals holding lower ranks may be allowed at instructors discretion.

2. The leader can be either Union or Confederate since both were Americans.     

3.Cover the battles and events which the leader took part in as well as analyzing how his involvement may have influenced other aspects in the war.

Include a conclusion that effectively summarizes the main points and addresses the significance of past historical inquiry.
