Most of the time there is always more to the story. And the facts lie somewhere in between the stories you are presented.

How you you filter through them?  I have always surrounded myself with folks whose counsel I appreciate and bounce the stories off of them.

Bosses get tired of hearing the same excuse all the time.  Accept the responsibility vs trying to explain how you messed up or dropped the ball.  Mistakes happen (we all do them) but learn from them am move on.
