Include 2 parts:
Part 1:
After brushing your teeth with toothpaste, take a sip of either orange juice or coffee.
Go into a completely dark room, like a bathroom, at night. Close the door and cover anything making light, like a pilot light or digital clock. DO NOT BRING YOUR PHONE INTO TH E ROOM. Set the phone outside the door with a timer to go off after five minutes. Sit in the complete dark. Wait for the timer to go off, then exit.
In a cup of warm or hot water, dissolve:
one small pinch of powdered ginger (or a piece of fresh ginger)
one small pinch of cayenne pepper
one squirt of honey
Take a sip, or drink it all if you like.
Part 2:
Write three paragraph. This should be at least 600 words
Describe the experiences and everything you noticed. Was it uncomfortable? Enjoyable? Both? Did you want them to end or continue? Were there feelings that arose?
How does this experience connect with information about biology, sensation or perception?
How does this experience help to inform you about the connection between sensory perception and emotions or behaviors?
What is the next question? What question does this experience raise that could lead to further study?
