CHAPTER 1
Based on the material in Chapter 1 of Gendered Lives, describe three cultural structures and practices that reflect and promote a cultures views of gender and sex. Use examples from US culture, your ethnic culture, or your own experiences to explain how these structures and practices function.
CHAPTER 2
What does Judith Butler mean by saying that gender should be viewed as a verb, not a noun? What are the implications of this view of gender? Relate your response to what youve read about the performative theory, and use examples from your own experience or current events to support your answer.
CHAPTER 3
In class, we discussed the importance of intersectionality in feminism. Your authors write about this concept in the section on Contemporary Feminism. Why is it important for feminism to be intersectional? Relate your ideas to such movements as multiracial feminism and transfeminism, as well as others in your text. Use your own experiences and examples from current events to support your response

Your authors describe feminine and masculine speech communication. Which of these characteristics seem most comfortable and/or natural to you? What communication practices do you use most often with your peers? (Your communication style need not match your sex or even your gender identity.) Be specific, and use examples to support your response
